چکیده

The quantum state distributions of the C, radical from the UV multiphoton dissociation of allene and propyne in a pulsed molecular beam have been measured. The observed distributions for both molecules are identical and are much colder than a phase space model would predict, implying that direct dissociation is occurring in one step and isomerization in another. It is concluded that both allene and propyne undergo internal conversion from the S1 state to the vibrationally excited Sa ground state of allene followed by molecular elimination of Hr. The observed Cs is then produced by molecular elimination of H2 from the secondary photolysis of CsH2.

Photodissociation of propyne and allene at 193 nm with vacuum ultraviolet detection of the products

Vacuum ultraviolet ~VUV! laser photoionization is combined with time-of-flight ~TOF! mass spectrometry to determine the photofragments produced from the laser photodissociation of allene and propyne in a molecular beam. Detection of C3H3 1 confirms that atomic hydrogen elimination is the primary process for both of these molecules. A hydrogen molecule elimination channel and a low mass carbon f...

Photodissociation of allyl-d2 iodide excited at 193 nm: Stability of highly rotationally excited H2CDCH2 radicals to C–D fission

The photodissociation of allyl-d2 iodide (H2C5CDCH2I) and the dynamics of the nascent allyl-d2 radical (H2CCDCH2) were studied using photofragment translational spectroscopy. A previous study found the allyl radical stable at internal energies up to 15 kcal/mol higher than the 60 kcal/mol barrier to allene1H formation as the result of a centrifugal barrier. The deuterated allyl radical should t...

Discrimination of product isomers in the photodissociation of propyne and allene at 193 nm

The photodissociation dynamics of propyne and allene are investigated in two molecular beam/ photodissociation instruments, one using electron impact ionization and the other using tunable vacuum ultraviolet ~VUV! light to photoionize the photoproducts. The primary dissociation channels for both reactants are C3H31H and C3H21H2. Measurement of the photoionization efficiency curves on the VUV in...

Quantum yields for the photolysis of glyoxal below 350 nm and parameterisations for its photolysis rate in the troposphere.

The formation of HCO and of H in the photolysis of glyoxal have been investigated over the wavelength ranges 310-335 nm for HCO and 193-340 nm for H. Dye laser photolysis was coupled with cavity ring-down spectroscopy for HCO, and with laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy for H. Absolute quantum yields were determined using actinometers based on (a) Cl2 photolysis and the Cl + HCHO reaction ...

Rate Coefficients of the Reaction of OH with Allene and Propyne at High Temperatures.

Allene (H2C═C═CH2; a-C3H4) and propyne (CH3C≡CH; p-C3H4) are important species in various chemical environments. In combustion processes, the reactions of hydroxyl radicals with a-C3H4 and p-C3H4 are critical in the overall fuel oxidation system. In this work, rate coefficients of OH radicals with allene (OH + H2C═C═CH2 → products) and propyne (OH + CH3C≡CH → products) were measured behind refl...
